How Irish is Your Town?
Have you ever wondered how many of your neighbors could be linked by the same ancestry to you? How many people in your grocery store could you greet with, ‘Top…
The Claddagh, the most internationally recognized symbol of Irish heritage, is made up of two hands clasping a crowned heart. It symbolizes Love, Friendship and Loyalty.
Legend has it that the Claddagh symbol was designed by Richard Joyce, a Galway fisherman kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in North Africa where he learned the art of a goldsmith. When he was released, nothing could keep him from his beloved Galway where he returned to his true love who had been waiting for him for all the years’ captivity. Joyce created the Claddagh ring to celebrate his love for the fair maiden.
This is a delightful pendant in .925 sterling silver with touches of plated rose gold. The circular shape is based on the Celtic vine and includes the Shamrock and all the elements of the Claddagh symbol – the Heart for Love, the Hands for for Friendship and the Crown for Loyalty.
Note the delicate hearts at the top of the pendant too!
Designed and made by Boru® in Dublin, Ireland, this pendant is available on an 18″ Spiga chain which features a lobster catch. This design bears a stamp from the Assay Office in Dublin Castle confirming that this exquisite piece has been lovingly handcrafted in Ireland.
